Kulgam, Nov, 14: The two-day annual Urs of Mir Syed Muhammad Hussain Simnani (RA), a revered Sufi saint, concluded on Thursday with grand religious celebrations at his Astaan Aliya in Kulgam district, South Kashmir. The event, which was observed with great devotion and fervour, attracted devotees from across the region who gathered to pay respects and seek blessings.
The Urs was marked by night-long prayers, with the local Auqaf Committee overseeing the smooth conduct of various religious activities. On Thursday, the blessed relic of the saint was presented to the devotees during the pre-dawn and post-Thursday prayers, a moment of great spiritual significance for those in attendance.
“People from various regions come to pay their respects at the shrine. Separate Langar facilities have been arranged for both men and women, ensuring comfort for all visitors,” said Chairman of the local Auqaf Committee. He also highlighted the role of religious scholars who addressed the gathering, imparting valuable teachings on Islam and the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Prayers were offered for the peace, prosperity, and unity of the entire Ummah, with a special focus on the well-being of the nation.

Maulana Noorul Amin, convener of the shrine, emphasized the importance of upholding the teachings of Hazrat Mir Syed Muhammad Hussain Simnani (RA). “His teachings serve as a guiding light for all of us. It is our responsibility to adhere to his wisdom and protect our children from the dangers of drugs and harmful practices. Imparting Islamic knowledge to them is crucial for their well-being,” Maulana Noorul Amin said.
The Auqaf Committee also expressed its gratitude to the district administration, including the DC Kulgam, SSP, and other departments, for their support in ensuring the smooth and successful conclusion of the Urs.
The Urs of Hazrat Mir Syed Muhammad Hussain Simnani (RA) continues to be a significant spiritual occasion for the people of Kulgam and the wider Kashmiri community, offering an opportunity for reflection, devotion, and unity.
