Kulgam, Nov, 15: The 18th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Kulgam observed the auspicious occasion of GurPurab with a special ceremony, honoring the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The celebration, held at the battalion headquarters, saw the active participation of both CRPF personnel and local Sikh community members.

The event began with the recitation of hymns and prayers, focusing on the profound teachings of Guru Nanak, which emphasize values such as equality, humility, and selfless service to humanity. Both officers and soldiers participated in the prayer sessions, reflecting on the spiritual significance of the day, which promotes a message of peace, unity, and understanding.

In his address, the Commanding Officer of 18BN CRPF spoke about the importance of interfaith harmony and how the shared values of compassion and service resonate deeply with both the Sikh community and the armed forces. “Guru Nanak’s teachings of selfless service and equality inspire not only the Sikh faith but also the spirit of camaraderie that defines our role in the CRPF,” he said.

The celebration also included a langar, where free meals were served to all attendees, in true adherence to the Sikh tradition of community service. This gesture underscored the essence of generosity and collective welfare, with everyone coming together to share in the spirit of the occasion.

Local Sikh community members, as well as CRPF personnel, expressed their gratitude for the event. Security personnel thanked the Commanding Officer Jitendra Mohan Silswal, Mahesh Kumar Choudhary 2IC and other officers for creating an environment where they felt like they were celebrating GurPurab with their family members. The unity and respect fostered during the celebration further solidified the bond between the CRPF and the local community, creating a sense of togetherness that transcends borders and backgrounds.

This celebration of GurPurab stands as a testament to the enduring values of peace, service, and mutual respect that continue to guide both the Sikh faith and the mission of the CRPF.
