Pattan, 18th November2024:In a significant initiative aimed at empowering women in Kashmir Valley, 02 Bn SSB Pattan successfully concluded its Vocational Training on Tailoring, benefitting 28 female youths. The course, held at the Comtech Institute of Boutique & Tailoring in Pattan from 15th October to 15th November 2024, was part of the ongoing efforts by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) under the Civic Action Programme, which is driven by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The closing ceremony was held on 18th November at the Battalion Headquarters in Pattan, with Sh. Asheesh Naithani, Commandant, 02 Bn SSB Pattan, gracing the event as the chief guest. The event was also attended by Sh. Santosh Kumar, Deputy Commandant, SSB, instructors from Comtech Institute, media personnel, and the course participants.
In his address, Sh. Santosh Kumar emphasized that the vocational training program was designed to equip local youth, especially young women, with valuable skills to improve their career prospects and achieve financial independence. He highlighted that the training in tailoring would provide them with practical skills for self-employment and empower them to contribute positively to their families and communities.
Sh. Asheesh Naithani, Commandant, expressed his gratitude to the students and their families for trusting the force and supporting the initiative. He explained that the tailoring course, along with other vocational programs organized by 02 Bn SSB, was part of a broader effort to enhance the livelihoods of Kashmir’s youth. He added that in the past year alone, the Battalion had successfully conducted eight vocational courses, benefitting 330 local youths, and had also arranged a “Bharat Darshan” tour for 30 youth participants to explore new opportunities.
The Commandant further assured the gathering that such programs would continue, with the goal of providing vocational training that not only empowers women but also uplifts the entire community.
The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where each participant was awarded a certificate acknowledging their successful completion of the tailoring course. The initiative is expected to help these young women build better futures for themselves and their families through newfound skills in tailoring and design.
