Kulgam, Nov 18: In a significant effort to promote road safety and ensure adherence to traffic regulations, the Kulgam Traffic Department today conducted an awareness programme under the guidance of DySP Traffic Kulgam, Mohd Aslam Choudhary. The campaign aimed to educate the public about the importance of wearing helmets and carrying proper vehicle documentation.

As part of the initiative, traffic officials seized several bikes and scooties found to be operating without the required documents or safety measures. Additionally, multiple challans were issued to traffic violators for failing to comply with road safety rules.

SO Traffic Kulgam, Gulzar Ah Dar, who supervised the operation, stressed the importance of wearing helmets and ensuring that vehicles are properly registered. “Our primary objective is to reduce road accidents and promote safer driving practices. We are counseling offenders and urging them to adhere to traffic regulations for their own safety and the safety of others,” he said.

The awareness programme also involved direct interaction with drivers and riders, advising them on safe driving practices, including helmet use and carrying valid documents. The Traffic Department has stated that similar initiatives will continue in the coming days to enhance road safety across the region.
