Kulgam, Nov, 21: In an effort to curb traffic violations and enhance road safety, the Traffic Department Kulgam launched a special drive aimed at enforcing traffic regulations. The operation, supervised by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Traffic Kulgam, Mohd Aslam Choudhary, was carried out with the assistance of DTI Lalit Sharma and SO Abdul Rashid.

The drive targeted several common traffic violations, including overspeeding, dangerous driving, failure to wear seat belts, and illegal parking. Checkpoints were set up across key areas of Kulgam district, particularly in Qazigund, to monitor traffic flow and ensure compliance with the law.

As a result of the operation, many traffic violators were issued challans and fines for their offenses. Speaking about the initiative, DySP Mohd Aslam Choudhary stressed the importance of such drives in ensuring safer roads for all. “We are committed to enforcing discipline on the roads. These measures are vital in preventing accidents and enhancing the overall safety of commuters,” he said.

The Traffic Department plans to continue these drives periodically, aiming to raise awareness and promote adherence to traffic regulations among the public. The initiative has been well-received by local residents and commuters, who have praised the department’s efforts to improve road safety and create a more disciplined driving environment in Kulgam.
