Kulgam,Nov, 21: In an effort to improve road safety and promote the health and well-being of local drivers, the District Traffic Police Kulgam, under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, Mohd Aslam Choudhary, recently organized a free eye testing camp for drivers in Levdora Qazigund. The event was also attended by DTI Qazigund, Lalit Sharma, and local health officials.

The initiative aimed to address one of the key factors contributing to road accidents—impaired vision—by ensuring that drivers met the necessary health standards for safe driving. The eye test camp, which was set up at a prominent location in Levdora, saw enthusiastic participation from the local driving community.

Mohd Aslam Choudhary, DySP Traffic Kulgam, who spearheaded the camp, highlighted the importance of regular eye check-ups for drivers, especially those who spend long hours on the road. “This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance road safety. Clear vision is essential for drivers to make quick decisions on the road, and we want to ensure that all drivers are in the best possible health to reduce the risk of accidents,” he said.

Dr. Zahoor Ahmad, BMO Qazigund, and his medical team conducted the eye tests, screening a total of 72 drivers. During the tests, two drivers were found to have impaired vision, and were advised to seek proper medical treatment. The medical team provided referrals for further check-ups at local health facilities for any additional care required.

The camp received positive feedback from the local driver community, many of whom appreciated the opportunity to ensure their vision was up to standard. Several drivers also received guidance on corrective measures, including glasses and other treatments.

This eye test camp is part of a broader initiative by Kulgam Police to promote road safety and public health in the region. Plans for additional camps and awareness programs are already in motion, with further events scheduled in the coming months. The efforts aim to make the roads of Kulgam safer and ensure the well-being of all drivers in the area.
