Kulgam, Dec, 04: Residents of Noorabad have expressed a collective sigh of relief following the establishments of a wildlife control room in DH Pora, a region that has been grappling with frequent man-wildlife conflicts. The initiative marks a significant step toward addressing the rising concerns among the local population, who had been dealing with a surge in wildlife sightings and encounters in their area.
The move, which was hailed by locals, is seen as the result of collaborative efforts between several key officials, including the Wildlife Warden of South Bijehara, the Ranger Officer of Bringi Valley Achabal, the Territorial DFO of Kulgam, and the district administration. Local residents have praised the swift and effective action taken to curb the growing threat of wild animal encounters. “We are extremely thankful for the quick response from these dedicated officials,” said a resident. “This initiative is a huge relief for all of us.”
The Incharge of the newly established Wildlife Control Room confirmed that the community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive. “People are very happy with the measures taken by both the wildlife department and the district administration,” he stated. “We have also set up a dedicated helpline at 9622628351, where locals can report any sightings of wild animals in their vicinity.”
The introduction of a wildlife control room is expected to enhance the safety of residents and minimize future conflicts, promoting a more harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife. The helpline will provide a direct and accessible channel for residents to report emergencies or wildlife-related incidents in real time, further ensuring the well-being of the community.
