Budgam, Dec 7: Residents of various villages in the Beerwah town of central Kashmir’s Budgam district are urging the government to establish laparoscopy facilities at the Sub-Hospital Beerwah.

They said at present, the hospital relies on open surgeries, forcing patients to seek treatment at other government and private hospitals that offer laparoscopic surgeries.

The Sub-Hospital Beerwah serves over 80 villages in the Beerwah tehsil and receives patients from neighboring tehsils, including Khag, Magam, and Khansahib. The lcoals said that the huge influx of patients highlights the pressing need for upgraded facilities.

“Laparoscopy, a minimally invasive surgical technique, offers numerous benefits, including reduced recovery time and scarring. The absence of this facility at Sub-Hospital Beerwah has significant implications for patient care and well-being,” Advocate Inayat Malik told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

The locals said that establishing laparoscopy facilities at the hospital would greatly improve healthcare services in the district. They appealed to the Government and the concerned minister to address this critical issue in the interest of the general public. [KNT]
