Kulgam, December 7, 2024: Minister for Education, Higher Education, Health, Medical Education, and Social Welfare, Sakina Masood, today presided over a public outreach program in Malwan, Kulgam district, aimed at addressing the grievances and demands of the local residents. The event saw a large turnout of locals, district officers, and heads of various government departments, including Revenue, Police, PDD, Health, Education, Public Works, Agriculture, and allied sectors.
During the Public Grievance Redressal Camp, local residents raised a variety of concerns, including issues related to power supply (PDD), water supply, the upgradation of the local health center, infrastructure development, and the effective implementation of welfare schemes. Minister Sakina Masood took the time to listen attentively to their concerns and ensured that each grievance would be addressed promptly.
In her address, Minister Masood reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving public grievances and improving public service delivery. “Mitigating public issues is a top priority of the government led by Omar Abdullah,” she said, adding that the administration is working tirelessly to create an environment that efficiently meets the needs of the people while ensuring transparency.
The Minister also took the opportunity to criticize the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), accusing it of enabling the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) growing influence in the Kashmir Valley. “The PDP’s actions have paved the way for BJP’s influence in the region. They have no right to question our stance on critical issues like Article 370 and Article 35A,” she remarked.
Furthermore, she highlighted the progress made in ensuring media freedom in the region. “Ten years ago, the media did not feel free here, but today, they are able to speak their minds openly and freely,” the Minister stated, reflecting on the strides made in promoting transparency and freedom of expression under the current administration.
Minister Sakina Masood also emphasized the government’s focus on strengthening the public grievance mechanism to ensure prompt redressal of issues. “Our government is committed to providing the best possible services across all sectors—education, healthcare, infrastructure—to improve the quality of life for everyone,” she added.
MLA Devsar Peerzada Feroz Ahmad Shah also addressed the gathering, lending his support to the government’s efforts to enhance public services and infrastructure in the region.
In closing, Minister Sakina Masood assured the residents of Malwan and the wider Kulgam district that their trust in the government would lead to tangible actions that would benefit the community and address their needs effectively.
