Kulgam, December 8, 2024: Cabinet Minister Sakina Masood paid a surprise visit to the District Hospital Kulgam on Sunday, where she found several doctors absent from their duties. The minister expressed her concerns over the absence of medical staff and assured that the matter would be raised with the Chief Minister to ensure better staffing in the hospital.
During her visit, Masood emphasized the importance of proper sanitation and cleanliness in the hospital premises. She directed the concerned authorities to improve hygiene practices to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
Masood also interacted with the attendants of the patients, listening to their grievances. One of the key demands voiced by the attendants was that the hospital’s operation theater (OT) should be made functional on Sundays as well. The Cabinet Minister acknowledged their concerns and assured that necessary steps would be taken to address the issue.
“The District Hospital Kulgam is facing a shortage of staff, and this is a matter that will be taken up with the Chief Minister to ensure that the hospital functions efficiently and effectively for the benefit of the public,” Sakina Masood stated.
The visit highlighted ongoing challenges in the healthcare sector, and Masood’s prompt response to the issues raised by the hospital staff and attendants underscored her commitment to improving healthcare services in the region.
