POWERGRID Signs MoU to Construct 100 Bedded Girls’ Hostel and Teaching Block

Gurugram: 12 December , Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a ‘Maharatna’ Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under Ministry of Power, Government of India, has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Haryana State CSR Trust to fund the construction of a 100-bedded girls’ hostel and a teaching block, and supply of IT, medical, music equipment at Government Girls College, Sector-14, Gurugram.

The MoUs were signed in presence of Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Haryana, Shri Rao Inderjeet Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (IC) for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Shri Rao Narbir Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Industries and Commerce, Haryana, Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel), Shri Adish Kumar Gupta, Executive Director (Corp. Comm. & Law), Shri Jasbir Singh, Executive Director (CSR), POWERGRID and other senior officials from POWERGRID, Govt. of Haryana and District Administration, Gurugram. The MoUs were signed by Shri A. K. Mishra, GM (HR-CSR), NR-I, POWERGRID and Shri Ajay Kumar, DC cum Jt. Secretary, Haryana State CSR Trust.

 

These initiatives, with an estimated cost of ₹20.38 crore for the girls’ hostel, teaching block and supply of equipment, shall be a significant step towards promoting women’s empowerment and improving educational infrastructure for girls in and around Gurugram. Corporate Social Responsibility is embedded into POWERGRID’s business model and is aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. POWERGRID has been consistently contributing to the field of economic and social development across the country with its CSR initiatives.

 

As on 30th November 2024, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 280 Sub-stations, more than 1,78,975 ckm transmission lines and 5,45,961 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has been able to maintain an average transmission system availability of more than 99.80%.
