Kupwara, Dec, 16: DySP Traffic Baramulla / Kupwara conducted a comprehensive traffic awareness programme and drive against the traffic violators at Baramulla Town, Gantamulla particularly against the drivers who are over-speeding, dangerous driving, habit of overtaking while driving, overloading of passengers and goods, without fitness, without insurance, without pollution, without Driving licence, without route permit, using mobile phones, minors driving vehicles etc. several vehicles were penalized during the drive as part of efforts to curb traffic violation, improve road safety, reduce the risk of accidents and ensure strict adherence to traffic laws and minimize accidents.
SSP Traffic Rural has urged the public to cooperate with traffic police and follow the traffic /road safety rules. The officer stressed the importance of carrying driving license and other necessary documents while driving. The SSP also called on parents not to allow their minor children to drive in any circumstances, and those who are allowed to drive should not drive without helmets, licenses and proper documentation. In response he said the traffic police time to time launch special drives to curb these issues and raise awareness about traffic regulations in various areas of the valley. The officer said those having proper documentation for either LMV’s, HMV’s, three wheelers or two wheelers should be aware of almost all important driving rules and where and when to halt vehicles.
During these special drive, SSP Traffic Rural has emphasized the importance of wearing safety gear, especially helmets, which significantly reduces the risk of head injuries in accidents and also urged bikers to always wear securely fastened helmets, including for pillion riders and avoid dangerous practices like using mobile phones, triple riding and reckless driving. SSP also cautioned bikers against wrong-lane driving, shortcuts, and stunts, which endanger lives. He urged commuters to cooperate with traffic police for better management and safer roads, especially with on-going construction on the national highway. SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir directed all DTI’s /challaning officers to conduct a comprehensive drive against the traffic violations in your Areas of their responsibilities particularly against the traffic violations by Minors and take strict action against the parents or the person who is providing vehicle to the minors as per provisions of Motor vehicle Act.
While conducting drive and awareness to the commuters and the drivers, SSP traffic rural Kashmir sent the clear cut message that, the traffic violators particularly against drivers who are without Driving licence, habit over speeding, dangerous driving, overtaking while driving in single roads , overloading of passengers or goods which is the main cause of accidents in hilly areas, vehicles without fitness will be not allowed to ply as the life and property of commuters matters most, without insurance, without pollution, drivers without driving licence, rage driving will not be tolerated, over height of load or baggage on the vehicles causes imbalance resulting accidents, vehicles without permit, adhere all traffic advisories during winter season, avoid fare over charging will not be tolerated , behaviour with the tourist / passengers, avoid wrong halts / parking, the vehicle driven by Minors will be seized and even their parents or whosoever provide the vehicles to the minor will be dealt as per provisions of motor vehicle Act.
In addition using of mobile phones while driving is a big menace and cause of accidents too, such violators if found habitual their driving licence will also be recommended for suspension or cancellations. Riders without a helmet and triple ride are another cause of fatalities, who are again, advised that such violations if found habitual, their driving licence could also be recommended for suspension or cancellations. Apart from this, pedestrians are also advised to use footpaths and cross the roads where incoming vehicle could be viewed or use zebra crossing wherever available, stunt driving on road is another violation that is a big concern which needs to be truncated, so that the precious human lives could be saved.
