Kilam, Kulgam, Dec 16: Altaf Memorial Government Degree College (AMGDC), Kilam, organized a one-day sensitization programme on Tuesday in collaboration with NCORD and the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan. The seminar, held in the college’s conference hall, aimed to educate and raise awareness among the youth about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and the importance of combating this growing menace.

The programme began with an inaugural address by the Principal, Prof. Dr. Shabir Ahmad Padder, who urged students to stay away from drugs and become proactive members of society. He stressed the need for collective efforts to eradicate drug abuse and encouraged students to lead awareness campaigns and support those vulnerable to addiction.

Prof. Siraj Ahmad Parray, Head of the Botany Department, delivered an insightful extempore speech highlighting the alarming prevalence of drug abuse and the government’s ongoing initiatives to tackle this issue. His address emphasized the crucial role educational institutions play in fostering a drug-free society.

The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Kowser Ahmad Ganai, Head of the History Department, who ensured the smooth flow of the session.

The seminar saw enthusiastic participation from students, NSS volunteers, and faculty members, reflecting the college’s commitment to the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India). The participants pledged to work together to spread awareness and contribute to the creation of a healthier, drug-free society.
