Kulgam, Dec 23: Mian Altaf Larvi, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, inaugurated the newly upgraded 7.6 km Chawalgam to DB Shopian road via Nillow on Monday. The project, undertaken under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), is a significant step toward improving connectivity in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Athar Amir Khan, Er Tanvir Mir, Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir, and other officials from the executing agency, PMGSY Kashmir.

The upgradation of this crucial road is expected to enhance transportation, facilitate better access to markets, healthcare, and educational facilities, and promote economic development in the region. Local communities will benefit directly from the improved connectivity, which will also contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the area.

Speaking at the event, Mian Altaf emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in rural areas, particularly in enhancing the standard of living for the local population. He also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the government to improve road connectivity, with PMGSY playing a key role in the region’s development agenda.

The upgraded Chawalgam-Shopian road is expected to provide a significant boost to mobility, fostering regional integration and enhancing connectivity with the rest of Jammu and Kashmir.
