Srinagar, Jan 1: In a major crackdown on narcotics and drug-related crimes in 2024, Kulgam Police data registered a total of 123 FIRs and 155 individuals were arrested.
Kulgam Police as per news agency JKNS reads that, the contraband seized includes Poppy Straw/Fukki, Cannabis Bung (Charas), Brown Sugar, Heroin, and COF Master/Corex (Codeine), with an estimated market value of ₹50 lakh.
Additionally, authorities attached 17 properties belonging to drug peddlers, valued at approximately ₹15 crore. The action was part of efforts to dismantle the financial networks supporting the illegal drug trade, it reads.
Under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, 24 warrants were executed during the year, further intensifying the fight against drug trafficking.
