A senior police official informed  that the five family members, living in a rented accommodation in Pandrathan, died late at night after falling unconscious due to suffocation.

He said the family originally hailed from Baramulla and was living in a rented house in Pandrathan. “They were shifted to the hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead on arrival,” he said.

The official identified them as Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (38), his wife Saleema (32) and their three children—Areeb (3), Hamza (18 months) and a month-old infant boy.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic death of the five family members. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved relatives, praying for strength and patience to help them cope with this irreparable loss.

As the bodies of all five reached Pandrathan, wails and cries filled the air, with sorrow enveloping the entire area, leaving residents in shock—(KNO)
