Kulgam, January 20, 2025 – The Municipal Council of Kulgam has launched a special anti-encroachment drive in the main market area to tackle illegal street vending and shopkeeper encroachments. Supervised by Senior Official Gh Mohiuddin Bhat, the initiative aims to clear footpaths, reduce congestion, and restore pedestrian movement obstructed by unauthorized structures.
As part of the drive, illegal stalls and shop extensions were dismantled, and vendors were instructed to relocate their stalls to designated areas. New measures have been introduced requiring vendors to place their carts on one side of the road, with fines for non-compliance.
The Municipal Council plans to extend the drive across Kulgam to improve urban order, public safety, and the overall environment, with a focus on ensuring organized vending zones for local businesses.
