Kulgam, January 23, 2025: In preparation for Shab-e-Meraj, authorities in Kulgam conducted a market checking in the main town on Thursday to ensure quality standards and regulate prices. The inspection was led by Tehsildar Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad, alongside AD Food Safety Kulgam, Station House Officer (SHO) Kulgam, Subzar Ahmad and senior officials from the Municipal Council Kulgam, including Gh Mohiuddin Bhat and Mohammad Ayoub.
During the operation, the team checked rate lists, inspected hygiene standards, and ensured that packaged goods displayed necessary details such as MRP, package date, and net content. A fine of 15,000 rupees was imposed on shopkeepers found violating regulations.
Tehsildar Bilal Ahmad emphasized that the drive was conducted in collaboration with various departments to ensure the availability of quality goods, curb black marketing, and prevent profiteering ahead of the festive occasion. He assured that market checks would continue to maintain standards and address any malpractice.
Officials also took the opportunity to raise awareness among shopkeepers regarding hygienic handling and proper storage practices for various food products.
