Budgam, January 24, 2025: Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Khan, today visited Beerwah and Kanigund to oversee the ongoing construction work on two crucial bridges in the area. The bridges, being built over the Nalla Sukhnag, represent a significant development initiative aimed at addressing long-standing connectivity challenges faced by the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DDC Budgam Nazir Ahmad Khan emphasized the historical significance of these projects. He noted that the construction of these bridges will undo decades of neglect and marginalization experienced by the people of Beerwah and Kanigund. “These bridges are more than just infrastructure; they symbolize the commitment of the administration to ensure equitable development and connectivity in every corner of the district,” he stated.

Nazir Ahmad Khan also highlighted the pivotal role played by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir in the realization of these projects. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for his unwavering support in expediting the Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation and securing the necessary approvals for the bridges.

The bridges over Nalla Sukhnag are expected to transform the socio-economic landscape of the region by improving accessibility, facilitating trade, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents. The projects are being executed under a comprehensive developmental framework aimed at fostering inclusive growth in Budgam.

Nazir Ahmad Khan restated his commitment to closely monitoring the progress of these projects to ensure their timely completion. He urged the executing agencies to maintain high standards of quality and adhere to the stipulated timelines.

The Chairman’s visit was attended by senior district officials, local representatives, and members of the public, who praised the Chairman’s proactive approach and expressed optimism about the positive impact these bridges will have on their lives.
