Budgam28 Feb: In an effort to keep children away from drugs and crime, a new branch of Al Jawad Sports Academy was inaugurated at Hardapanzo, Beerwah, in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. The inauguration ceremony was led by AJKSA District President Budgam, Gh Mohmamad Khan, and was attended by several dignitaries and a large number of children.
Speaking at the event, Ghulum Mohmamad Khan emphasized the importance of sports in preventing youth from falling into drug addiction and crime. He stated that such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping a healthier and more disciplined society.
The Al Jawad Sports Academy continues its ‘Drugs Out, Sports In’ initiative, promoting self-defense training among both boys and girls. The academy aims to empower young girls to protect themselves and stand against social evils and crimes prevalent in the valley.
Residents of the area, particularly the youth, warmly welcomed the initiative. Many expressed hope that such academies would be established in every corner of Kashmir to equip children with self-defense skills and prepare them for any situation.
In addition to self-defense training, the academy also highlighted the growing mental health concerns in Kashmir. Experts at the event pointed out that one of the major challenges in drug de-addiction is relapse, often due to a lack of positive engagement for affected individuals.
During the seminar, martial arts demonstrations and self-defense tips were provided to boys and girls. Participants learned various techniques to enhance their confidence and physical strength.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of Al Jawad Sports Academy, Syed Sujad Shah, stressed the importance of involving more youth in sports activities. He highlighted how sports can serve as a powerful tool in combating the drug menace and urged civil society to actively support such initiatives.
“Sports, not drugs, can bring positive changes to our society. The more we engage youth in constructive activities, the better future we can secure for them,” he added.
The event concluded with an appeal to authorities and social organizations to establish more such academies across the valley to provide children with a safe and productive environment.
