Srinagar: IRP-20th Battalion has launched a massive plantation drive at Armed Police Complex Parihaspora. Sh. Shamsheer Hussain-SSP CO-IRP-20th Bn., Sh. Munir Ahmad- Dy.CO IRP-20th Bn. & other officers/other ranks of the unit have participated in this drive.
The main objective of this initiative was to promote greenery as a part of larger sustainable ecological development. The preservation of our ecology assumes significance so as to stabilize our ecosystem in order to preserve the ecological diversity within it, said Sh. Shamsheer Hussain-SSP, CO. IRP-20th Bn. while planting the saplings. Promoting greenery will help us to offset emissions which upset our ecological balance.
CO IR-20th Bn., highlighted the role of launching plantation drives in making the environment pollution free. He said that deforestation has affected the environment badly as trees play a pivotal role in reducing the hazardous affect of the poisonous gases being released from various types of industries/factories etc, on the environment which are main cause for spreading chronic diseases like lung cancer etc. He further said that floods, draughts & soil erosion etc. in one or other part of the world takes thousands of precious lives & loss of property being witnessed every year are mainly due to indiscriminate cutting/falling of trees.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant of the unit said that such plantation drives will continue in future also to promote scenic beauty in addition to conservation of environment at Armed Police Complex Parihaspora & its surroundings.
He also exhorted upon the officers/other ranks of the unit to take this initiative to their respective native areas as a mission for sustainability of lives.
