Srinagar 2nd May : SKIMS MC & Hospital achieved a major milestone by successfully conducting its first Fetoreduction procedure, performed through a seamless collaboration between the Departments of Radiodiagnisis and Gynaecology.Team of Department of Radiodiagnosis and a team of Gynaecologists jointly decreased 2 fetuses in quadruple pregnancy to two to decrease the risk to mother and other two fetuses.
HOD, Radiodiagnosis said that Fetoreduction is a delicate and specialized intervention aimed at improving outcomes in high-risk multiple pregnancies. He elaborated that fetal reduction is a medical procedure used when a woman is pregnant with more than two babies, like triplets or more. To lower the risk to the mother’s health and help the remaining babies grow better and healthier, doctors may reduce the number of babies, usually to two. This helps increase the chances of a safer and more successful pregnancy for both the mother and the babies.
