Kulgam, May 20: The Youth Services and Sports Department of District Kulgam continues to promote sporting excellence among youth with the successful organization of an Inter-Zonal District Level Football and Kabaddi Tournament for boys.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 200 players representing six zones of the district — Damhal Hanjipora, H.C. Gam, Kulgam, Yaripora, Qaimoh, and Devsar. The competitions featured matches in both football and kabaddi under different age categories.
In the Under-17 Football Tournament, held at Higher Secondary School Bogam, Zone Kulgam clinched the championship title by defeating Zone Qaimoh in the final. Meanwhile, the Kabaddi tournament, hosted at the Sports Stadium Kulgam, included players from Under-14 and Under-17 age groups competing with great zeal.
Youth Services and Sports Officer Kulgam, Mushtaq Ahmed Pampuri, interacted with the players during the event, assuring them of full support and facilities from the department. He encouraged students to take active part in various sports activities organized across the district.
At the conclusion of the event, departmental observers and the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners and participants, applauding their talent and sportsmanship. The tournament served as an important platform to nurture local sports talent and promote healthy competition among youth.
