Kulgam, 30 May 2025:  In a significant move aimed at strengthening tuberculosis (TB) control efforts, Dr. Shauket Ahmad Parray, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam, officially initiated the district’s preparations for the 100-Day Active Case Finding (ACF) Campaign under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).

During a high-level meeting convened today at the CMO Office, Dr. Parray finalized the district-wide action plan to identify and screen high-risk populations for TB. The campaign is set to cover 18 vulnerable population groups, as per national guidelines.

To ensure smooth execution, all health blocks have been directed to nominate a dedicated Nodal Officer—at least of the rank of Community Health Officer (CHO)—to coordinate campaign-related activities at the block level. Further, all Primary Health Institutions (PHIs), including Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), New Type PHCs (NTPHCs), Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), and Sub Centres are required to designate responsible incharges for survey operations, data submission, and portal updates.

As part of the groundwork, each PHI will compile a detailed line listing of vulnerable individuals using existing health data. This list will serve as the basis for systematic screening efforts in the field.

Mandatory online training for Community Health Officers, Mid-Level Health Providers, Zonal Medical Officers, and ASHA workers is being rolled out via the Saksham Portal. The training is to be completed within two days, and the access link has already been distributed through official block-level communication channels. Health institutions are to maintain and submit records of personnel who complete the training.

Dr. Parray stressed the need for collective and timely action, calling on all stakeholders to demonstrate full cooperation and a sense of urgency. “This campaign is crucial for early TB detection and elimination. We must ensure meticulous planning, training, and execution for its success,” he stated.

The detailed screening methodology and operational procedures will be circulated following the formal flag-off of the campaign. The initiative is a critical component of India’s mission to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025, and Kulgam’s proactive approach is expected to set a model for other districts.
