Kulgam, June 16: The 18 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Kulgam, held a grand closing ceremony at its battalion headquarters to mark the successful completion of several skill development courses conducted under its Civic Action Programme (CAP). This initiative was aimed at empowering the local youth by providing them with practical skills to enhance their self-employment prospects and overall livelihood.

The event was organized under the leadership of Commanding Officer Shri J.M. Shilswal and the close supervision of Second-in-Command Shri Mahesh Kumar Chaudhary. Shri Prince Ahmad, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Roads and Buildings Department, attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, he commended the CRPF’s commendable efforts in uplifting the local youth and encouraged students to take full advantage of such free training programmes. “We should be thankful to 18BN CRPF Kulgam for this meaningful initiative,” he said.

Throughout the duration of the Civic Action Programme, youth from different parts of Kulgam district received training in a variety of trades including computer basics, tailoring, electrical work, and other vocational skills tailored to boost employability. The initiative was met with a positive response from the community, with many locals expressing appreciation for the CRPF’s proactive engagement in local development.

During the ceremony, certificates of completion were distributed to the participants, acknowledging their achievements and encouraging them to make practical use of their newly acquired skills. Several trainees also shared their experiences, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the CRPF for creating a platform that not only enhances capabilities but also builds confidence among the youth.

Addressing the gathering, CO Shri J.M. Shilswal reiterated the CRPF’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the local population through constructive initiatives. He assured that 18BN CRPF will continue to organize similar programmes in the future to help the youth become self-reliant and valuable contributors to society.

The event concluded with refreshment session, symbolizing the spirit of unity and cooperation between the security forces and the civilians. The Civic Action Programme stands as a shining example of the CRPF’s larger mission of “Service and Loyalty,” extending its role beyond security to meaningful community development.
