Srinagar, July 4, 2025: On the sidelines of Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Ram Nath Thakur’s official visit to Srinagar, Adv. Zaman Irshad Parray, General Secretary of Janta Dal (United), J&K UT, led a significant delegation to raise the long-pending concerns of daily wagers across the region.
The delegation comprised key representatives including All DRWS Association President Tartaz Shah and Jahangir Ahad, and was supported by JD(U) J&K UT President Mr. GM Shaheen. Their meeting with the Union Minister aimed to address critical issues such as irregular wages, lack of job security, and absence of social welfare measures affecting thousands of daily-rated workers in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
Speaking on the occasion, Adv. Zaman Irshad Parray expressed deep concern over the persistent neglect of daily wagers’ rights. “The plight of daily wagers is a matter of grave concern, marring both Kashmir and Jammu regions. Their contributions are indispensable, yet their rights remain neglected,” he said, urging for immediate intervention.
This engagement marks yet another chapter in Adv. Zaman’s continuous advocacy for daily wagers. Alongside JD(U) leadership, including Mr. GM Shaheen, he has persistently raised these issues before various central authorities.
Union Minister Ram Nath Thakur gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation of his full support. He promised to take up the matter with concerned departments, focusing on key demands such as regularization of services, wage revision, and the extension of social security benefits.
Reaffirming his commitment, Adv. Zaman said, “We are hopeful that with the Hon’ble Minister’s support and the collective efforts of JD(U), the issues plaguing our daily wagers will soon see meaningful resolution.” He also called upon all daily-rated workers to unite in this movement to ensure their voices are heard at every level.
The delegation also included JD(U) District President Shahid Manzoor and District Youth President Kulgam Salman Ahanger, who echoed the concerns raised and extended their full support to the cause.
The meeting concluded with optimism, as all stakeholders pledged to continue their joint efforts toward achieving justice for the daily wagers of Jammu & Kashmir.
