Budgam July 23: Following widespread concern and viral videos showing Primary Health Centre (PHC) Khag plunged in darkness, the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khag on Wednesday issued a formal clarification, attributing the power outage to a technical fault and apologizing to the affected patients and attendants.
The PHC in central Kashmir’s Budgam district witnessed a temporary disruption in electricity supply, which evoked strong resentment from locals and relatives of patients, especially those present during emergency hours. Videos showing patients struggling in dark wards had gone viral on social media, prompting calls for administrative action and scrutiny of health infrastructure.
In response, BMO Khag Dr Mohammed Ashraf acknowledged the incident and said, “There was an unexpected electricity outage due to a technical fault in the supply line. However, we do have all necessary backup systems in place, including generators, and we try our best to activate them without delay.”
He expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and added, “We sincerely apologize to the patients and attendants who had to face difficulty. We remain committed to providing quality healthcare and will ensure such disruptions are better managed in the future.”
The officer assured that corrective steps have been taken to prevent recurrence and that the matter has been reported to the concerned electricity department for swift resolution. [KNT]
