KULGAM, JULY 26: The 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas was commemorated with great patriotic fervor and solemnity at Army Goodwill School, Behibagh, in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district today. The event was held to honor the valiant soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.

The Commanding Officer of 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Behibagh was the chief guest on the occasion, accompanied by other senior officers from the unit. Their presence added gravitas to the ceremony, which was marked by deep respect, emotion, and national pride.

A large number of students, teachers, army personnel, and families of martyred soldiers participated in the event. School children presented a series of cultural performances — including patriotic songs, skits, and speeches — that paid glowing tribute to the indomitable courage and sacrifice of the Kargil heroes.

In a moving gesture, the family members of the martyrs were felicitated by school authorities and army officials as a mark of gratitude. The atmosphere was filled with emotion as participants reflected on the immense sacrifices made for the nation’s integrity and freedom.

One of the most powerful moments of the event came when the wife of a martyred soldier addressed the gathering. Her emotional words underlined the significance of remembering those who gave their lives for the nation and called on the youth to uphold the values of bravery, discipline, and patriotism.

Army officers also addressed the audience, encouraging students to draw inspiration from the valor of the Kargil martyrs and contribute meaningfully to the nation.

The event concluded with the hoisting of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem, evoking a renewed sense of unity and national pride among all present.
