Kupwara, July 28: In a major breakthrough against anti-national activities, security forces apprehended a terrorist associate during a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Marsary village of Chowkibal area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The joint operation was carried out by 05 PARA, 160 Territorial Army, 98 Bn CRPF, Special Operations Group (SOG) Kralpora, and Police Station Kralpora following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of a terrorist associate in the area.
During the search, one individual identified as Wali Mohammad Mir, son of Mohammad Sadiq Mir, resident of Marsary, was apprehended. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from his possession, including:
- 01 AK-56 rifle
- 03 AK-56 magazines
- 1150 rounds of AK-56 ammunition
- 17 UBGL grenades
Preliminary investigation indicates that the individual was acting as a terrorist associate for proscribed terrorist groups and was involved in facilitating the movement of arms and ammunition to active terrorists in the region.
An FIR numbered 53/2025 has been registered under relevant sections at Police Station Kralpora, and further investigation is ongoing.
