Srinagar, August 9:The Jammu & Kashmir unit of Janata Dal (United) has suspended three party workers — Dr. Ayoub Mattoo, Shri Ghulam Mohammad Dar, and Shri Gul Mohammad Azhari — from all party positions for a period of one week, effective immediately.
According to an official office order/press note issued by the party, the suspension will remain in force until the concerned members submit both written and personal explanations before the Party Coordination Committee, as earlier decided. The deadline for submitting their responses has been set for August 10, 2025. Failure to respond within the stipulated time will result in their permanent expulsion from the party, with their membership cards being declared null and void.
The party further noted that certain individuals without valid membership have been misusing the JD(U) banner and name for personal gain. Such activities, it warned, will invite strict legal action under BNS Law 356(1), the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005, and the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950.
In addition, the JD(U) has announced that it will send formal communications to all recognised political parties, urging them to blacklist such individuals.
Reaffirming its stance, the party stated that Janata Dal (United) remains firmly committed to upholding discipline, integrity, and the highest standards of political ethics.
The order was issued by the Office Secretary of JD(U) Jammu & Kashmir, with a copy forwarded to the Director General of Police for necessary information.
