Srinagar, Sept 4 : Amid the ongoing flood-like situation in the Valley, certain Facebook pages are spreading misinformation that police authorities are diverting floodwaters towards Mehjoor Nagar. Officials have categorically denied these claims, terming them “baseless and false,” and urged residents not to fall prey to such rumors.
According to locals, a few individuals have been posting videos and pictures on social media, alleging deliberate diversion of water into the area. The misleading content has created unnecessary panic among residents.
Police sources clarified that no such action has been taken, and the situation in Mehjoor Nagar remains under control. “Spreading fake information during a time of crisis is highly irresponsible. Strict action will be taken against those trying to create fear and confusion,” a senior police officer said.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to rely only on official updates and not on unverified social media posts. Meanwhile, efforts continue across Srinagar and adjoining districts to manage the situation and ensure the safety of residents.
