Faizan as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said that Towards late afternoon, there is a possibility of a short thundershower in a few spots, mostly higher reaches. Light rains or thundershowers won’t impact the Jhelum’s water level. Weather-wise, there is no threat.”

On the river situation, Arif added, “The water level of Jhelum is expected to recede at a very slow pace. At Sangam, it may take more than six to seven hours for the water to drop below the Danger Mark. At Ram Munshi Bagh, the receding could take nearly a full day before levels fall below the Danger Mark. At Asham, water levels are likely to range between 13.60 and 13.90 ft.”

According to the details of guage readings shared by Irrigation & Flood Control Department, at 9:00 a.m. as per KNC stated that, the Jhelum gauge is at “27.03 ft at Sangam (danger mark 25 ft), 22.05 ft at Ram Munshi Bagh (danger mark 21 ft), 13.55 ft at Asham (danger mark 16.5 ft) and 1576.64 m at Wullar.”

It added that “Vishow Nallah at Khudwani was flowing at 8.65 m against the danger mark of 8.50 m, while Rambiyara at Wachi was at 4.35 m, Lidder at Batkoot at 0.74 m and Sindh at Doderhama at 2.42 m.”

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, said in a post on X, “Water levels are receding at Sangam and Ram Munshi Bagh but are still above danger levels and hence caution needs to be maintained. Preventive evacuation is underway in Shalina, Rakh Shalina, Seerbagh and Summerbugh, affected by a breach in the Jhelum embankment near Zoonipora, Budgam. Similar advisory has been issued for Lasjan, Soiteng, Nowgam, Vyethpora, Padshahibagh and Mehjoornagar areas.

Garg further said that Eleven rescue teams comprising Revenue, Police, NDRF and SDRF are on job to assist people in these areas. I appeal to all citizens to maintain calm and follow advisories issued by the District Administrations.”

For public assistance, helpline numbers 📞0194-2502254 and 📞0194-2950767/10170 have been activated. (KNC)
