Officials said the deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Mukhter Ahmad, son of Abdul Rashid Gojree of Branpathri Nagbal, Tral. He was initially shifted to Sub District Hospital Tral after falling from a walnut tree and later referred to SMHS Srinagar in critical condition.

Doctors at SMHS said despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission.

The incident comes at a time when walnut harvesting is in full swing across south Kashmir, a season that often witnesses accidents as workers climb tall and slippery trees without safety gear. This is reportedly 3rd incident in this month. [KNT]
