Baramulla, Oct 26: The MSC Knockout Football Tournament – Super 8 (6-A-Side) concluded with high energy and enthusiasm as Friends FC defeated Bisma FC in a thrilling grand finale. The match ended 1–1 in regulation time and was decided in a tense tie-breaker, where Friends FC emerged victorious with a 5–4 scoreline.
The tournament witnessed remarkable participation from teams across the district, drawing huge crowds and showcasing the growing passion for football in Baramulla.
Midway through the event, the stadium roared with cheers as the Chief Guests — Irfan Pandithpuri (DDC Chairman Kupwara), Zubair Mir, Faraz Ashraf, and Aqib Sultan — arrived to encourage the players and present awards.
Speaking on the occasion, Irfan Pandithpuri lauded the organizers for providing a constructive platform to youth, stating:
“Sports are not just games; they’re lessons in teamwork, character, and resilience. When our youth engage in sports, they stay away from drugs and towards discipline and purpose.”
Faraz Ashraf, guest at the event, emphasized the social impact of football, saying:
“Sports are the best antidote to the growing menace of drugs. Every young person who chooses the football field over bad company is shaping a better future for Kashmir.”
Echoing the same spirit, Zubair Mir added:
“Tournaments like these promote unity, positivity, and mental strength. Baramulla’s football culture is a beacon of hope for our youth.”
The match’s standout performers included Sahil Raja, who was named Player of the Match, and Faisal Rashid, who earned the title of Player of the Tournament along with a trophy and ₹1000 cash prize. Miran Mir was honored as the Emerging Player, while Afaan bagged the Best Goalkeeper award.
