Govt Assigns Interim Charge of JKBOSE Chairman to Secretary BOSE, Additional Charge of JKSCERT Director to DSEJ

The Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) on Saturday confirmed that the JKAS Preliminary Examination scheduled for December 7 will be held as per schedule.

JKPSC Chairman Arun Kumar Choudhary, speaking exclusively to news agency JKNS, said that the examination “will be conducted as planned.”

The confirmation has triggered anger and frustration among aspirants, many of whom say they are battling severe travel disruptions and emotional strain.

Earlier, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor issued a detailed clarification on X, calling circulating social media posts “misleading.” As per the LG’s office, the age-relaxation file sent by the elected government was received at Lok Bhavan on December 2 and returned the same day with a query regarding the feasibility of changing eligibility criteria just five days before the exam.

“Despite four days passing, Lok Bhavan received no response,” the statement said, adding that the LG “fully sympathizes with young aspirants,” but the process required timely coordination.

CM Omar Abdullah Calls for Postponement, Citing Chaos and Stress

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had strongly urged JKPSC to postpone the exam, terming the current situation “extraordinary and unfair” for aspirants. In his communication, he highlighted two major concerns, Airline disruptions, which have stranded numerous candidates across different regions.
Delay in the age-relaxation approval, which has created anxiety about eligibility just hours before the exam.

“These factors have placed unprecedented mental and logistical stress on candidates,” Omar wrote, appealing for a short deferment “in the interest of fairness and equal opportunity.” (JKNS)
