Shopian : The District Shopian Taekwondo Championships 2025–26 commenced today with great enthusiasm at Batapora Stadium, Shopian.
The two-day championship is being organised by the Taekwondo Association of District Shopian from 7th to 8th January 2026, aiming to promote sportsmanship, discipline, and competitive excellence among young athletes of the district.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Manager Sports Stadium, Shopian, who attended the event as the Chief Guest and encouraged the players to pursue sports with dedication and commitment, highlighting the importance of taekwondo in building physical fitness, confidence, and self-discipline among youth.
The championship is being led by Mr. Ahtsham, President, Taekwondo Association of District Shopian. The technical conduct of the event is being efficiently overseen by Mr. Aquib Gulzar. Ms. Arbeena Altaf, Mr. Haris, Ms. Urmeela manzoor and Mr. Tahdeen rafiq ,ensuring smooth and fair competition as per taekwondo rules and standards.
A total of around 120 players from various schools and clubs across District Shopian are participating in the championship, showcasing impressive talent and competitive spirit. The medalists of this championship will earn the honour of representing District Shopian in the upcoming 28th J&K UT Taekwondo Championship 2025.
