Anantnag, Apr 7: In pursuance of the directions issued by the Transport Commissioner, J&K, a special enforcement drive was conducted across District Anantnag today as part of the ongoing enforcement campaign across the Kashmir Division. The drive was carried out at various locations of the district to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and to promote road safety through intensified checking.
The main focus of the drive remained on violations such as masking of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) by goods vehicles, installation and use of pressure horns by Transport vehicles, and instances of minors riding and driving vehicles.
During the drive, more than 300 vehicles were intercepted and inspected, of which 106 vehicles were found violating the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and were accordingly e-challaned under relevant sections.
An amount of ₹1,50,500 was realised as on-spot fine during the enforcement action.
Further, five vehicles involved in serious violations were blacklisted, while four driving licences have been recommended for suspension under the prescribed legal provisions.
ARTO Anantnag, Muazzam Ali, urged the general public to strictly follow traffic and transport regulations in the interest of road safety.
