Kulgam, June 2: Advocate Zaman Irshad Parray, an advocate at the J&K and Ladakh High Court, has issued an open letter to the youth of Kashmir, urging them to unite and take an active role in shaping the region’s future through direct political engagement and democratic participation.
In the letter titled “A Call to Direct Action, Unity, and Self-Determination,” Parray stressed the need for greater involvement of young people in political decision-making processes. He expressed concern over what he described as the inability of traditional political parties to effectively represent the aspirations, concerns, and expectations of Kashmir’s younger generation.
Parray advocated for the creation of a native youth-led political movement founded on the principles of accountability, transparency, and constructive democratic engagement. He emphasized that the youth of Kashmir should have a direct and meaningful voice in discussions related to their future, identity, and socio-economic development.
According to the advocate, empowering young people to participate in political discourse and policymaking is essential for addressing long-standing challenges and ensuring sustainable progress in the region. He called upon the youth to move beyond political apathy and work collectively towards a future shaped by dialogue, unity, and democratic values.
The open letter has sparked discussions among various sections of society, particularly young people, regarding their role in influencing the political and developmental landscape of Kashmir.
