Srinagar, Jun 04: District Hospital Bandipora has successfully carried out its first Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgery, marking the introduction of specialised ENT surgical services at the district-level healthcare facility, officials said.
The procedure, a Septoplasty surgery for correction of a deviated nasal septum, was performed by Dr Raies and his team at the hospital.
Officials said the development is a significant step towards strengthening advanced healthcare services in the district, as patients requiring ENT surgical interventions earlier had to travel outside Bandipora for treatment at tertiary care hospitals.
They said the surgery was conducted successfully with the coordinated efforts of the ENT unit, anaesthesia team, operation theatre staff and hospital administration, while maintaining required standards of patient care and safety.
Officials further said the availability of ENT surgeries at the district hospital is expected to reduce referrals to outside hospitals and ease the financial and logistical burden on patients and their families.
The hospital administration congratulated the surgical team for the achievement and reiterated its commitment to expanding advanced medical and surgical facilities for the people of the district.
