According to rainfall data shared by the MET Centre Srinagar, as per news agency JKNS, Pahalgam received 42.6 mm of rainfall, the highest in Jammu and Kashmir during the period.

Among other stations, Poonch recorded 30.0 mm, Sonamarg 21.0 mm, Gulmarg 11.8 mm, and Baramulla 5.5 mm of rainfall.

The data further stated that Qazigund recorded 0.6 mm of rainfall, Kupwara 0.7 mm, and Konibal 1.2 mm.

An intense spell of rain also hit Nallah Awoora in Pahalgam on Saturday evening, prompting the administration to launch a swift response after a cloudburst triggered flash floods in the stream.

Officials said the overflowing waters inundated at least half a dozen hotels, forcing the rescue and relocation of tourists to safer places. Several houses in the area were also affected.

Light showers were also reported from Srinagar and several other parts of the Valley, resulting in a noticeable drop in temperatures after days of above-normal heat and humid conditions.

The showers led to a significant improvement in weather conditions across Kashmir, providing relief to residents who had been enduring unusually high temperatures over the past several days.

Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif told JKNS that the weather across Jammu and Kashmir will remain cloudy with intermittent wet spells, adding that there are chances of rain spells during the next 24 hours across the Union Territory.

Faizan further said that intense spells of rain and localized flash floods cannot be ruled out. (JKNS)
