Ramban, July 22: Two persons were killed and others injured after a shooting stone hit a passenger tempo on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Ramsoo in Ramban district on Wednesday, officials said.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the shooting stone struck the tempo amid continuous rainfall, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
They said several passengers were injured in the incident and were immediately rescued and shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ramsoo and other nearby hospitals.
Officials said two of the injured later succumbed to their injuries, while the condition of the remaining is being monitored.
Rescue teams, assisted by police and local volunteers, carried out the evacuation operation. The identities of the deceased are being ascertained.
Meanwhile, police have taken up an investigation into the incident.—(KNO)
