Anantnag, July 22: Anantnag Police on Tuesday issued a stern advisory warning citizens and social media platforms against circulating unauthorised photographs, videos, and unverified content related to the recent terror incident at Lal Chowk in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, stating that strict legal action would be taken against violators.
According to the police advisory, several social media users and platforms have been sharing unauthorised visuals, doctored photographs, edited video clips, and misleading information connected to the incident. Authorities noted that such circulation has the potential to hinder the ongoing investigation, create panic among the public, and spread misinformation.
Anantnag Police urged all social media platforms and users to immediately remove any unauthorised or fake content linked to the terror incident without delay. The advisory warned that anyone found continuing to circulate such material after the issuance of this public notice would face strict legal action under relevant provisions of law.
The police also appealed to the public to exercise responsibility on social media and refrain from forwarding or uploading unverified information. Citizens have been advised to rely exclusively on official updates issued by the police and other authorised government agencies for accurate information regarding the incident.
Reiterating that maintaining public order and preventing the spread of misinformation is a collective responsibility, the police urged full cooperation from the public in avoiding the circulation of unauthorised content. (KNS)
