Suspected OGWs among those detained for questioning; raids, naka checking and area domination operations stepped up across district
Shopian, July 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian on Wednesday intensified security measures across the district following the terror attack in Anantnag, launching extensive counter-terror operations aimed at preventing any attempt to disturb peace.
Details available with news agency JKNS, hundreds of suspects, including suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs), have been detained for sustained questioning and verification as part of the ongoing operation.
Sources said multiple raids and search operations have also been conducted at various locations across the district on the basis of credible intelligence inputs.
They said security arrangements have been significantly strengthened throughout Shopian, with additional police personnel deployed at vulnerable locations and checking points (nakas) reinforced to ensure strict surveillance of vehicular movement and prevent any unlawful activities.
They further said area domination patrols, intensified checking and enhanced surveillance are being carried out in close coordination with other security agencies to maintain peace and foil any attempt by anti-national elements to disrupt law and order. (JKNS)
