DH Bandipora organises awareness programme to mark World Hepatitis Day 2026

Bandipora, Jul 28: District Hospital Bandipora on Tuesday observed World Hepatitis Day 2026 by organising an awareness programme focused on prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis.

The programme was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Bandipora Nazir Ahmad Mir and attended by Chief Medical Officer Bandipora Dr Bhajan Kour, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Bandipora Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Malla, doctors, paramedical staff and other officials.

Addressing the gathering, the ADDC stressed the need for coordinated efforts to tackle hepatitis as a public health concern and said awareness, early detection and timely treatment were crucial to reducing its burden.

Dr Bhajan Kour highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, regular screening, vaccination where applicable, safe medical practices and greater community awareness.

During the programme, a presentation was delivered on the burden, transmission, prevention, screening and treatment of hepatitis. Doctors also briefed participants on current approaches to the diagnosis and management of viral hepatitis.

The programme concluded with an interactive session on preventive measures, healthy lifestyles and the role of healthcare institutions and communities in controlling hepatitis.
