Bandipora, Aug 01: Seeking greater accountability in governance and timely execution of public welfare initiatives, Bandipora MLA Nizamuddin Bhat on Saturday conducted a detailed review of developmental activities and departmental performance in the constituency.

The meeting, held at the Mini Secretariat in Bandipora, focused on assessing the implementation of government schemes, infrastructure projects and delivery of essential public services by various departments.

During the review, officials briefed the MLA on the progress of works under the CAPEX Budget 2026-27, Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and Tribal sector programmes, besides the status of ongoing development projects. A detailed presentation highlighting sector-wise achievements and progress was also made by the Chief Planning Officer.

Expressing concern over vacancies in Anganwadi Centres, Bhat directed the ICDS Department to immediately initiate the recruitment process for vacant Anganwadi Worker and Helper posts. He also stressed the need to strengthen facilities at Anganwadi Centres and ensure that welfare schemes reach deserving beneficiaries without delay.

Reviewing the healthcare sector, the MLA ordered a comprehensive audit of District Hospital Bandipora and Primary Health Centres, covering the deployment of National Health Mission (NHM) staff and utilisation of funds under different health components.

He also instructed the Revenue Department to streamline the issuance of Other Backward Class (OBC) certificates within the prescribed timeline and asked the Power Development Department to improve electricity supply by addressing frequent power curtailments.

The MLA further directed the District Social Welfare Officer to route proposals relating to individual beneficiary assistance schemes for his approval. He also asked the Youth Services & Sports Department and the Sports Council to pursue the issue of the unsafe structure at SK Sports Stadium with the Roads and Buildings Department, while directing the Executive Engineer, R&B, to submit the necessary technical report.

Bhat called upon all departments to identify unresolved issues requiring intervention at the government or departmental level so that they could be pursued with the concerned authorities.

He emphasised that better coordination among departments, timely execution of projects and efficient public service delivery are essential to ensure that development initiatives translate into tangible benefits for the people of Bandipora.

The review meeting was attended by senior district officers, including Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shabir Ahmad Wani, Programme Officer ICDS Yaar Ali Khan, the Chief Planning Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora, Executive Engineers, Tehsildar Bandipora and other officials.
