J&K Sports Council, Khelo India Coaches Join Hands to Promote Grassroots Sports; Asian Gold Medallist Abhilove Kour Among Chief Guests
Poonch, Aug 3: In a bid to promote grassroots sports and encourage youth participation, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, in collaboration with Khelo India Coaches, organised a Special Volleyball Competition under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative at Sports Stadium Poonch on Monday.
As per news agency JKNS, Under the ongoing “My Youth My Pride” initiative, a Special Volleyball Competition was organised at Sports Stadium Poonch by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Poonch, in collaboration with Khelo India Coaches.
The event was held under the guidance of Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, and the supervision of Mr. Bashir Ahmed Bakshi, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu, with the objective of promoting sports culture and encouraging youth participation across the district.
The competition featured matches between two boys’ teams and two girls’ teams, who displayed impressive skill and competitive spirit before a large gathering of spectators.
Ms. Abhilove Kour, gold medallist at the Asian Lacrosse Championship, was Chief Guest for the girls’ competition, and Mr. Shakeel Ahmed, AEE, Jal Shakti Department, was Chief Guest for the boys’ competition. Both commended the organisers for empowering youth through sport. Refreshments were distributed to all participating players after the matches.
The event was supervised by Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, In-Charge, Sports Stadium Poonch, with support from Mr. Ram Prakash (Supervisor), Mr. Navjot Singh (Hockey Coach), Mr. Rohit Sharma (Boxing Coach), Ms. Richa Bali (Volleyball Coach), Mr. Ameet Singh (Football Coach) and Mr. Owias Ud Din (Badminton Coach).
The programme concluded successfully, reaffirming the commitment of the J&K Sports Council to nurturing sporting talent under the “My Youth My Pride” banner. (JKNS)
