Srinagar, Sep 10: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar (IPS) on Thursday visited twin South Kashmir districts of Kulgam and Shopian to review security situation, counter-terrorism grid, crime and law and order scenario.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that DIG South Kashmir Range Javed Iqbal Mattoo (IPS) accompanied the IGP during the visit.
During the visit, IGP Kashmir chaired security and crime review meetings in both districts which were attended by respective SSPs and other senior and jurisdictional officers. SSP Kulgam and SSP Shopian gave detailed briefings about prevailing security situation, anti-terror operations, counter-insurgency grids, crime prevention strategies and measures to maintain public order.
Reviewing operational preparedness, the IGP stressed robust intelligence generation, close inter-agency coordination and swift decisive response to neutralize emerging challenges. He directed field formations to maintain sustained pressure on terror ecosystem and zero tolerance against elements inimical to peace.
As part of tour, IGP Kashmir also inspected Sub-Division D.H. Pora in Kulgam where he held interactive session with supervisory officers, SHOs and jawans of Special Operations Group (SOG).(GNS)
