Bijbehara, Sep 14: A police constable was arrested here in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday for allegedly hitting and injuring a Station House Officer (SHO) with his vehicle near the Bijbehara police station, officials said.
The incident took place late Sunday night when SHO Majid Ahmad Khan was on duty and the vehicle struck him near the police station, they said.
The accused, identified as SG Ct Khurshid Ahmad Wani, son of Mohd Abdullah Wani, a resident of Bindoo in Kokernag, was arrested in connection with the incident, officials said.
The offending vehicle, an Alto bearing registration number JK16A-3739, was seized, they added.
The injured SHO was shifted to SDH Bijbehara for initial treatment and later referred to the Bone & Joint Hospital in Srinagar for further treatment, officials said.
Further investigation is underway, they added.–(KNS)
