New Delhi, Oct 22: An Indian national was injured in an attack targeting Saudi Arabia’s Shaybah oilfield, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh said on Thursday, adding that it was in touch with Saudi authorities to provide assistance.
The embassy said it was awaiting further details from Saudi authorities regarding the incident.
“The Embassy has learnt that one Indian national was injured in an attack at Shaybah oilfield today. We are in touch with Saudi authorities and await further details. We will provide all necessary help to the injured Indian national,” it said in a post on X.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, meanwhile, said its air defences had thwarted an attempt to target the oilfield.
Two people were killed and two others injured after shrapnel fell following the interception, the ministry said in a separate post on X. (KNS)
