The meeting was chaired by Fayaz Azad, Vice President of JKCDA Kashmir, and attended by presidents and general secretaries of district units from different parts of the Kashmir Valley.

Dr. Zafar Ahmad, Assistant Drug Controller (ADC), Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ms. Reema Ghazila, Assistant Drug Controller, Srinagar, attended the meeting as special guests along with their team.

During the meeting, participants deliberated on various issues and challenges faced by chemists and medicine distributors across Kashmir. They stressed the need to promote traders’ welfare, ensure the smooth functioning of the pharmaceutical trade, strengthen the organisation and improve coordination between the trading community and the Drug Control Department.

The participants also discussed difficulties encountered by chemists and druggists in their day-to-day business activities and emphasised constructive dialogue and mutual cooperation to address these concerns.

Fayaz Azad Calls for Unity and Cooperation

Addressing the gathering, Fayaz Azad emphasised the importance of unity, mutual cooperation and collective responsibility among all district units of JKCDA Kashmir.

He said that a strong and united organisation could effectively raise the genuine concerns of chemists and medicine distributors before the concerned authorities and safeguard their legitimate interests.

He urged representatives from all districts to strengthen communication, work collectively and contribute towards making the provincial organisation more effective and robust. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining positive and constructive relations with the Drug Control Department to ensure the smooth functioning of the pharmaceutical trade.

The participation of Dr. Zafar Ahmad and Ms. Reema Ghazila, along with their team, provided an opportunity for representatives of the trading community and Drug Control Department officials to exchange views on various issues concerning the sector.

Speakers and participants underlined that effective coordination, mutual cooperation and continuous engagement with the concerned authorities were essential for resolving trade-related difficulties. They observed that regular communication could help address the challenges faced by traders.

AIOCD Election Delegates Approved
One of the key agenda items was the upcoming elections of the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), scheduled to be held in Gurugram in December 2026.

Following detailed deliberations, the meeting approved the nominations of delegates and alternate delegates to represent Kashmir Province in the national-level organisation.

The decision was described as an important organisational step towards ensuring the representation of Kashmir Province in the forthcoming AIOCD elections.

Vote of Thanks Concludes the Meeting
The meeting concluded with a formal vote of thanks, during which special guests, office-bearers, district presidents, general secretaries and all participants were thanked for their presence and valuable contributions.

The organisers appreciated the cooperation extended by the participants and reiterated their commitment to strengthening JKCDA Kashmir, promoting unity among district units and working collectively for the welfare of chemists and medicine distributors.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to maintain constructive engagement with the concerned authorities, strengthen the organisational structure and continue collective efforts to safeguard the legitimate interests of the pharmaceutical trading community.
